You've done it before. Phone in your mouth, trying to see under the dash. One hand on the wrench, the other holding a torch that won't stay where you point it. Or you're up in a ceiling cavity with no power, wearing gloves, and your cheap headlamp gives you a tunnel of light the size of a dinner plate while everything around you stays dark.
This headlamp fixes two problems at once.
The first is the beam. Most headlamps use a single bulb that throws a narrow spotlight. This one uses a COB LED strip across the front. COB stands for Chip on Board. Instead of one concentrated point of light, dozens of tiny chips sit side by side and spread light in a wide 230 degree arc. You see everything in front of you without turning your head. No shadows. No blind spots off to the side.
The second is the switch. When your hands are covered in grease, or you're wearing gloves, or you're holding something you can't put down, pressing a tiny button isn't an option. The wave sensor uses infrared to detect your hand passing within 5cm. Wave once, it turns on. Wave again, it turns off. Same technology as automatic taps in a public bathroom, built into a headlamp. No fumbling. No stopping work.
It charges with USB-C. Plug it into the same cable you use for your phone. Full charge takes about 4 hours. On the brightest COB setting you'll get 2.5 to 3 hours. On low mode, 6 to 8 hours. We're giving you the honest numbers here, not the inflated ones you'll see on other listings. If you need more than 3 hours on high, charge it at lunch or carry a power bank.
There's also a focused spot beam on the side (XPE LED) for when you need to see something specific at a distance. Think of it as your torch mode. The COB is your floodlight.
The whole thing weighs 85 grams. The headband is elastic and adjustable. You'll forget it's on. IPX4 rated, which means rain and splashes are fine. Don't submerge it.
